Automatic brain lesion segmentation on standard MRIs of the human head: a scoping review protocol

Emilia Gryska, PhD student in Professor Rolf Heckemann´s research group at Gothenburg University and MedTech West, has recently published her first article in BMJ Open. It´s a scoping review protocol with the title Automatic brain lesion segmentation on standard MRIs of the human head: a scoping review protocol. In the protocol Gryska describes a systematic approach to conducting a scoping review of automatic brain lesion segmentation methods on MR scans. Such methods carry a great potential to support clinical decision making. Although numerous methods have been already proposed, there is no one that has become established in clinical or research practice. In the review, Gryska identifies and provides a synopsis of existing approaches to automatic brain lesion segmentation methods. She also identifies limitations of these methods in terms of clinical application.
