On 2 October, 2019, WiSE is inviting Lina Bunketorp-Käll from the MedTech West researcher network to give a speech at a lunch seminar.
Lina is a senior physiotherapist at the Centre for Advanced Reconstruction of Extremities (C.A.R.E.), Sahlgrenska University Hospital/Mölndal and an affiliated Associate Professor at Department of Health and Rehabilitation, Institute for neuroscience and physiology, Sahlgrenska academy at Gothenburg University.
Her research strives to expand the knowledge of the brain’s plastic properties. Under the umbrella of the research initiative “Culture and brain health” at Gothenburg University she studied alternative multimodal therapies for individuals in the late phases of stroke, such as therapeutic horseback riding and rhythm and music therapy. Another research focus is enriched rehabilitation for stroke survivors. She has also studied the effectiveness of extended physical activity on school children’s school performance, mental health and brain development. Since 2014 she is working part-time as a physiotherapist at Center for Advanced Reconstruction of Extremities (C.A.R.E.), at Sahlgrenska University hospital/Mölndal, Gothenburg, Sweden. Her incentive at C.A.R.E. is to engage in the development and evaluation of surgical and high-tech medical solutions for patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and phantom limb pain, aiming at restoration of mobility, independence and quality of life for patients both within and beyond the hospital. She also aims at using advanced imaging methods with the aim to provide new windows into central nervous system function and recovery.
