4.8 million SEK granted to MedTech West by the European Regional Development Fund
Tillväxtverket announced today their decision to support MedTech West with SEK 4.8 MSEK from the Regional Development Fund of West Sweden. The funds will be disbursed over the period 2015-2017 and shall be used to stimulate the growth of small and medium-sized medical device companies by intensifying their collaboration with healthcare and academia in the region.
MedTech West is a model platform for novel ways of implementing such collaborative research and innovation in medical technology. Initially, the aim is to establish an open collaborative arena linked to the region’s new Imaging and Intervention Center (BoIC) at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. In this arena, clinical experts, companies and medical researchers will be brought together to identify opportunities and challenges in healthcare and start new joint research and innovation projects. The plan also includes stepping up MedTech West’s cooperation with stakeholders in the innovation support system so that utilization will take place in the best way possible.
“We are very happy to have this support, because it will allow us to streamline our operations further, and even more resolutely promote business collaboration with healthcare and academia”, says Henrik Mindedal, Director of MedTech West. “The grant means that we can grow as an organization and more proactively direct our efforts towards clinical challenges in areas of great importance for healthcare. By expanding collaboration, more companies will benefit and we will thereby contribute to further growth in the region.”
