Opportunities in the Indian Health Care Industry

In the coming years, the Indian healthcare industry will see a yearly growth of 17% and by 2016 the value of the industry is expected to amout to 1 700 Billion SEK. This increase is driven by several government healthcare programs with the purpose of offering healthcare at affordable prices to the whole population. In addition, there is a large demand from the Indian middle class for high quality private healthcare. This group is expected to grow to about 400 million people by 2025.

Sweden and India have signed an MOU (Memorandum of understanding) in the area of healthcare. As part of the efforts to promote Swedish companies and organizations in India, Swecare and the Swedish Trade Council have undertaken the India Healthcare Mapping Study 2012 to sharpen out the high potential areas for Swedish industry in India. In addition to public health and infection diseases, the study shows a significant demand of products and expertise in Lifestyle related diseases and Elderly Care.
