Welcome to a MedTech West seminar with Torbjörn Lundh, professor in mathematical sciences at Chalmers
Welcome to the MedTech West seminar “Three cardiovascular problems solved by mathematics and realized by knitting”. This seminar will be presented by Torbjörn Lundh, professor at Mathematical Sciences at the university of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology.
Torbjörn Lundh will show how mathematics can, in different more or less unexpected ways, be useful in medical interdisciplinary collaborations by describing three different problem-based cardiovascular projects: a new by-pass-graft, a removable stent and a new compression bandage which gives a constant pressure. All of these problems were formulated by vascular surgeon Erney Mattsson, previously at Sahlgrenska but currently professor at St. Olavs Hospital in Trondheim. The three mathematical solutions have been embodied using knitting techniques with the support of Smart Textiles in Borås.
Time: 11.30-12.30 (13.00 incl. lunch)
Location: Förmaket, Vita stråket 12, Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset.
Register by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. A light lunch will be served afterwards to participants that have registered at the latest on February 23. Please write “MTW seminar Feb 26″ in the subject line.
