Title: “Protein folding is basis of life and death”
The question of how proteins are assembled into their active functional forms remains a scientific mystery. Pernilla Wittung-Stafshede will discuss how the understanding of protein folding processes helps to understand nature and for development of treatments towards a variety of diseases. She will also talk about her experiences on the way around the world during her career so far.
Pernilla Wittung-Stafshede started her career at Chalmers. After several years spent at different universities in USA and Sweden, she is now back at Chalmers as the head of the Chemical Biology division. She is engaged in equality in academia, has written a debate article in the area http://www.stemwomen.net/tag/pernilla-wittung-stafshede/, and is a guest blogger in Curie www.tidningencurie.se/nyheter/2016/08/22/pernilla-wittung-stafshede-ny-bloggare-i-curie/.
